Wilderness: A Tale of the Civil War

$125

First Edition, First Printing. From one of the great Southern authors, the story of an idealistic German national who emigrates to the US to fight for the North in the Civil War, but over time questions his beliefs after experiencing the reality of war first hand. Fine in a fine dust jacket with a very small scuff at the tail of the spine. Rich, dark top stain. In publisher's original bright orange cloth. Internally bright, clean, and unmarred. A lovely copy of this Warren classic.

Warren was a charter member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers and founded the literary journal The Southern Review in 1935. In 1947, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for his magnum opus, All the Kings Men. A little over a decade later, he was awarded a second Pulitzer for Poetry in 1958 (and then again in 1979). To this day, Warren is the only author to have won Pulitzers for both fiction and poetry.
