"Shelley's own words to Harriet, his wife, at the time of his elopement with Mary Godwin. A whole sheaf of new letters, whose existence was always expected, the finding of which is due to the ingenious research of a young American writer in England. These letters reveal in all its intimate detail Shelley's incredible yet utterly sincere effort to establish a ménage à trois, with Mary as wife, and Harriet, soon to bear his second child. as sister! The material itself is hardly more interesting than the story of where and how Mr. Hotson found it."
