An absolutely amazing edition of this timeless tale. One of our favorites.

John Groth (b. 1908 -d. 1988 ) was a sought after illustrator and journalist, renowned as one of the leading war correspondent-illustrators of his day. He was also the first Art Director for Esquire Magazine. Groth famously illustrated a number of classics, including A Christmas Carol, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Grapes of Wrath, The War Prayer, and this LEC edition of Gone With the Wind. In all, he covered six wars / conflicts during his career, and was one of the first journalists to enter Paris after its liberation (beating out Ernest Hemingway who was working for the Chicago Tribune at the time).

Each volume fine and bound in publisher's original two-toned blue and gray buckram, in a three-piece design with the colors reversed between the volumes. Original blue slip slipcase fine, with only a very slight bump on the lower corner. Two quartos, each 8-3/8" x 11-5/8". 684 pp. in total. Oversized and a bit heavy. A wonderful copy.
