First Edition, First Printing. Foreword by the Earl of Ronaldshay. An important book by one of the most famous members of the official British staff serving in Tibet, David MacDonald. MacDonald went with Younghusband to Lhasa and then served for long years as British Trade Agent in Gyantse and Yatung. After his retirement he established the Himalayan Hotel in Kalimpong, on the border to Tibet. Illustrated with a few reproductions of black-and-white photographs, diagrams . and folding map. Nice, very good in original yellow-orange cloth; ex-lib with usual library markings, including paper tab to foot of spine. Octavo. 14.5 x 22 cm. 283 pp. A lovely copy, and one of the best we've seen for this scarce edition.
