The classic work on the subject, going through scores of editions, Prescott's "Peru" was one of the standard household books for the later part of the Nineteenth Century. A very good copy comparatively speaking.

BAL refers to copies such as this one, with no printer's imprint present on the copyright page of the first volume, as 'State B' of the two states of the first edition issued (no priority between the two is given).
