Wonderfully illustrated throughout by renowned artist, Alan Tiegreen, in bold collage-inspired, watercolors juxtaposed with black, white and gray. Carter Rabbit is the story of a young rabbit who is unhappy because he can't make noises like other animals. He becomes cheerful and self-confident, however, after he learns about all the special things bunnies can do, such as being a good listener, working with magicians, and one day becoming an Easter Bunny to the delight of children everywhere!
Alan Tiegreen is was a well-known artist and illustrator of children's books, including the beloved Ramona Series by Beverly Cleary. Tiegreen received the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1957 and continued his studies at the Art Center of Design in Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor of Professional Arts degree in 1961. In 1965 he became a teacher of painting, drawing, and illustration at Georgia State University's urban campus in Atlanta.
Tiegreen's paintings have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D. C., the Knoxville World's Fair, and in New York City, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. The illustrators for a number of children's books, winning numerous awards, including a Newbery Honor Award in 1978 and Young Readers Choice in 1980.Fine in a near fine dust jacket.
