First Edition. First Printing. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Welty's first book, a collection of 17 stories with an introduction by Katherine Anne Porter. Only 2,476 copies printed. Burnt orange textured cloth stamped in green and gray on the spine and front cover, with an even gray-green top stain. Internally fine. In the scarce dustjacket, with the original price of $2.50 and 'A.C.O.G.' at the top of the flap; with the '3972-41' code at the bottom of the inside front flap. Price is unclipped and presents with only slight toning and small closed tear along the spine tail. A wonderful copy; and quite rare, as the dustjacket is invariably found in poor condition. Housed in a custom case. A true collector's item!
